Reunion 2024

Dear Old Bowites (OBs),

There were a few errors in the reunion programme that was previously published and we hope the revised programme below clarifies the timetable for Saturday 6 April. We assume that all attenders will join us for lunch at noon. If you do not plan to have lunch, please let us know. If anyone has not yet made a meal reservation for Friday 7PM, Saturday 7PM and/or Sunday 9AM please do so immediately so we can finalise our bookings with the venues listed below.

Saturday 6 April 2024 reunion programme (revised):

9-10 Welcome and arrival at Bow School with coffee...informal conversations...display of school photographs and new memorabilia brought by OBs.

10-11 Zoom online teleconference with OBs Abroad in a room at Bow School that has an Internet connection and a TV. Attenders may be surprised to discover how many OBs live abroad especially in Australia. Others are invited to join us online if a trip to Durham is too lengthy.

11-12 Leisurely tour of Bow School and the Bow campus including Quarryheads...more informal conversations...we did this last March in small groups…we will take a 2024 group photograph on school steps like the one shown above.

12-1 Lunch and a short presentation by Durham School staff.

1-3 Building the "Bow Story" with a brief introduction by Jon Glen, Steve Wharton and Mike Pomerantz about our online and publication aspirations and an open session for story telling as exemplified last year by the elders.

We want to hear OBs’ stories of their “Road to Bow School” experiences, what is recalled of our time there and how the school impacted on our lives since Bow. We want to build our collective Bow School Story and define those values acquired at Bow that have "made a difference" in the years since our shared time together. If this leads to OBs volunteering to write their stories for publication, then a completed Book 2 will be available to a wider audience later this year.

3-5 Optional walk around Durham visiting locations as requested by attenders in advance (Durham School, sandpit area, No. 11 Church Street, Cathedral, St. Oswald's church, town centre, etc.)

7 Optional dinner in Durham at Duke of Wellington Nevilles Cross

Meal Bookings: In order for us to make firm bookings for weekend meals we need attenders to respond immediately (unless you have already done so) with requests for the following. We encourage attenders to bring partners but for catering purposes we need a specific head count for each event.
